Lately it seems like all Hollywood can deal out are movies with horrible plots, remakes or movies that are based off of something else, like a book or play.
So far, very few movies have impressed me.
But there are a few that I have deemed worthy of watching.
The first on my list is The Royal Tenenbaums (2001).
The movie, starring Owen and Luke Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Gene Hackman, features a dysfunctional family and explores their eccentric characters.
The next one on my list is Little Miss Sunshine (2006).
Little Miss Sunshine tells the story of a family that takes their daughter to the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. Despite mishaps it doesn’t allow any obstacles to get in their way.
Juno (2007) is also on my list of top picks.
A teenage girl faces the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy and makes an unconventional choice. Second to the quirky story is the stellar soundtrack.
Last on my list of movies is Harold and Maude (1971).
It is about a young man obsessed with death until meeting an elderly woman transforms his attitude.
I highly recommend all of these movies.
They may not have been the most publicized, but they certainly are some of the best.
