Nestled right outside the heart of downtown Akron sits a truly great restaurant.
Luigi’s Restaurant, located at 105 N. Main St., has been serving the best pizza in Akron since 1949.
When walking in Luigi’s, one is greeted with an atmosphere that could easily be mistaken for a lively New York City restaurant.
There is usually a line, but don’t let that intimidate you.
They move relatively fast, and the food is well worth the wait.
The inside of the restaurant is filled with artistic touches creating the unique atmosphere.
The murals painted on the walls and the artistic sculptures that hang from the ceilings make Luigi’s someplace special.
Once you’ve been seated by their helpful employees, it’s time to order.
The items on the menu are moderately priced, with entrees ranging from $6 to $15.
While they have a selection of pasta and other foods, the highlight on the menu has to be the pizza.
Their pizza is delicious and is by far the best around.
The dough is never dried out or hard. It is chewy without being soggy.
Simply perfect. And the sauce they put on it is also wonderful.
A nice addition to the pizza is their salad.
Their salads are good, and they are very generous with the cheese.
Another great addition is the free bread that they serve before and during the meal.
The bread is freshly baked and still warm when it reaches the table.
It has to be one of the best breads served in the area.
Sitting in the restaurant, it is easy to see that Luigi’s appeals to people of diverse demographics.
There is everyone from college students and business people to families.
Luigi’s is an Akron icon and should definitely be checked out.
It is open Monday through Thursday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m., Friday 11:00 a.m.-4 a.m., Saturday 5:00 p.m.-4 a.m. and Sunday 5 p.m.-2:00 a.m.
