The University of Akron is providing a Campus Wellness website for students, staff and faculty members. The site is a collection of health and wellness resource services on campus.
The university Council Recreation and Wellness Subcommittee is collaborating with Student Recreation and Wellness Services to provide the campus with a website that covers the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, environmental and financial aspects of well-being and steps than can help enhance life in general.
Students have the option to create their own personal growth and wellness and fitness plan. Students can use this to monitor their alcohol and medicine use, participate in nutrition programs, take a wellness screening and participate in club sports at the university.
There is a calendar of events promoting a healthy lifestyle. Some of the upcoming events include classes on meditation, improving study skills and healthy eating habits.
The site also directs students to various centers on campus, like the Counseling Center, the university’s Nutrition Center and the Outdoor Adventure Center.
Students can fill out a submission form on the Campus Wellness website at http://www.uakron.edu/wellness/. The Campus Wellness website is open to suggestions. Students and staff can add events to the calendar and request to become an author on the Campus Wellness Blog on the home page.
