Down Market Street awaits Akron’s hidden gem, Mocha Maiden.
Inspired by prominent artist Alphonse Mucha, art lovers Jill and Tony Troppe founded Mocha Maiden in 2005.
The Akron natives wanted to create a place where people could admire vibrant art while enjoying amazing coffee. Mocha Maiden is definitely that place.
Not only do they specialize in the finest coffee Akron has to offer, or the most delectable Mint Chocolate Supreme espresso, but Mocha Maiden also houses an uncorked wine bar.
That’s just the beginning. Upstairs, on the second level, is Mocha Maiden’s art gallery, featuring local and regional artists in a calm, tranquil atmosphere.
In the adjoining building (also founded by Troppe), is Musica, a retro-style music venue. Like Mocha Maiden, Musica is a relaxed environment. Akron Music enthusiasts can finally come to terms with the closing of Lime Spider. This past Friday, Indie/Rock bands Dom Liberati, Seabird and Wild Boy of Aveyron all have performed and were incredible.
Mocha Maiden is the perfect balance for all of Akron. Get together with friends for a quick study session or a fiery debate over politics, while enjoying a Banana Split Latte, or travel upstairs to admire the works of George Roush (showcased now through Oct.).
Then, if you prefer, walk next door to Musica, and have a great time while listening to good music.
Heck, do both!
Mocha Maiden and Musica are the definition of an exciting time. Wednesday, Sept. 24, Musica is featuring Horse the Band; so be sure to check it out!
