Rec offers healthy services
January 28, 2015
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) hosts a plethora of events aimed at helping students maintain their health and wellness. This semester, they are offering nutrition services and are currently hosting their 11th annual ZipFit Challenge for UA students, faculty and staff members.
The ZipFit challenge started on Jan. 12 and will continue until Mar. 20. This challenge encourages participants to be aware of their physical health, develop peer support, and it aims to educate on physical fitness and health.
Participants in the challenge work either individually or as a team (2-6 participants) to complete a variety of fun and exciting activities weekly in order to accumulate points.
At the end of the challenge the teams and individuals with the most points will win prizes such as SRWC memberships.
Costs for SRWC members are $10 per individual participant or $7 per member for teams. Costs for non-members of SRWC are $20 per individual participant or $17 per member on a team. Price includes a T-shirt that participants are able to design, membership to the SRWC for the duration of the event, as well as eligibility for prizes.
Students can contact Cara Parker at ext. 7580 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions.
The SRWC is also offering nutritional counseling free to any student with a dining plan. Staff and other community members are invited for this consultation for $15. Nutrition counseling is held on the main level of the SRWC in their Wellness Suit.
Nutrition counseling is available 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until Feb. 5. Afterwards, nutrition counseling will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays only for the remainder of the semester.
Students can schedule appointments by calling 330-972-6599 or contact Stacey Adams at ext. 8382 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions regarding nutrition counseling.
