Send a song to your valentine
February 12, 2015
UA’s Trombone Association wants to bring the spontaneity back into Valentine’s Day by offering a different kind of valentine. For only $25, a tuxedo- clad trombone trio will serenade your sweetheart.
Trombone valentines will be available to order until Friday on Feb. 13. Each valentine comes with a personalized card, assortment of chocolates, and one song performance from a provided song list. Some songs include “My Girl”, “That’s What Make You Beautiful”, and “Sweet Caroline.”
Additional songs can be requested for $5 each. The order form can be found online at uakron.edu/music/trombone.
This memorable experience is a fundraiser for the Akron Trombone Association. Christopher Simmons, a first year graduate assistant for the school of music, said, “We use that money to bring guest artists to campus, provide master classes for our studio and cover operating costs for the trombone association.”
Will Hoeskstra, a second year graduate assistant said, “It’s a really fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.”
This is the second year that the trombone association has provided this service, and they plan on doing this fundraiser again next Valentine’s Day. The performers are willing to travel within a 25 minute radius from the UA campus. For more information contact Christopher Simmons at cjs174@uakron.edu.
