Ally to support LGBTQ community
February 18, 2015
A new school program is having a presentation on Feb. 26 about making connections and supporting the LGBTQ community at UA.
According to Michael Cadaret, doctoral psychology intern, everyone and anyone on campus is invited to attend, even if one is not a part of the LGBTQ community. LGBTQ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning.
The Ally Program is designed to inform the community about the terminology by exploring and understanding LGBTQ issues, Cadaret said. The program is also sponsored by the Counseling and Testing Center (UACTC).
The presentation will be given by Cadaret and Barry Brady. Both of the presenters are doctoral psychology interns. The presentation will promote inclusivity, greater understanding of gender and sexual minority issues, and help all members of the campus community work towards being more effective allies.
The presentation will take place on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Student Union Room 316.
To attend this program one must register with the UACTC by calling 330-972-7082.
