Ineffable.
That is the one word that perfectly describes the band Brand New and the performance they gave at Newport Music Hall Wednesday.
This foursome, who was founded by the lyrical mastermind and lead singer Jesse Lacey, has been roaming the earth as Brand New for eight years.
Brand New isn’t one of those bands who are part of mainstream music, but the following they have is colossal.
Their ability to sell out almost every show of their tour proves their popularity among fans.
Newport was packed wall-to-wall and people were obviously hungry to hear the band play.
As the boys of Brand New took the stage, the crowd instantly went insane as they started performing their hit song Tatou from their second album Deja Entendu.
No one, not even Linkin Park, tops the performance that Brand New gives to their fans.
The majority of what they played on Wednesday night consisted of songs from their latest album, The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, and Deja Entendu.
The No Seatbelt Song, which was part of their acoustic set, was the only song performed from their first album, Your Favorite Weapon.
Every Brand New junkie in Newport Music Hall sang along to every song performed by Jesse, Brian, Vin, and Garrett.
The band played an unreleased track from their next album during their set and told the crowd they were planning on releasing a new album sometime in the near future.
The announcement, made in the middle of their set by Lacey, made the crowd go even wilder than they had been before.
If you’ve never heard of this band and you’re curious about the hype I’m building up, check out their Myspace or Purevolume.
Songs of theirs that provide an amazing lyrical base include Jesus Christ and Seventy Times Seven.
These Long Island natives have perfected their music, and will continue to grow throughout the years.
If you’re a Brand New fan or just a clueless reader of this article, keep an eye out for their new album that will hopefully be released by 2009.
