Golf unable to swing at par

Akron’s men golf team finished in tenth place in their latest competition held in Greenville, S.C.
The competition was the 46th annual Furman Intercollegiate which had 18 university teams aiming to reach the top spot before the competition came to a conclusion on Sunday, March 29.
This year’s tournament winner was Georgia State who finished the weekend -6 under par. For the rest of the field, the course wasn’t in their favor as every other team went over par like the second place team, Jacksonville, who finished over +10. As for Akron, the men finished +28, tieing with Davidson College.
The Zips started the competition out on fire, finishing the first day in the fourth spot. However, during the rest of the tournament, the Zips were unable to sink the ball into the hole and fell to +18 on day two and +28 for the conclusion on day three for their tenth place finish.
Akron’s top performer was Yann Pfeiffer who finished tied for 30th place with a score of +5 over par. Other top 50 finishers for the Zips were Ryan Harris, tied for 37th with +7 and Louis Birchall and George Baylis tied at 44th with a score of +8.
