After participating in the two-day Gary Koch Invitational held in Gastonia, N.C. on April 6 and 7, the Zips tied for 12th place out of 15 teams.

The field of 15 colleges was full of talent and expectations to finish on top of the standings. That expectation came true for the Seminoles of Florida State who won the invitational handily with a score of -22 below par. The other top three finishers were Auburn who shot -12 below par and Kentucky in third with a score of -6.

At the end of day one, Akron sat tied at 12th place at the par 72 course at the Gaston Country Club with a score of +28. Ryan Harris of the Zips finished the day in 23rd place at +3. On the second day, the Zips posted a round of 294 which tied their spring season best. Harris finished in 23rd place overall, which gave him his second top 25 finish during the spring season. He ended with a 54-hole score of 218 (+2). As for the rest of the scoring, five for Akron finished as follows: Louie Birchall tied for 60th (+12), Yann Pfeiffer and Zach Gollwitzer tied for 65th (+40), and George Baylis took 75th (+19.)

The Zips will have their final invitational of the season on April 11 and 12 when they partake in the Irish Creek Invitational, before the MAC Conference Championship in Chardon, Ohio on May 1 through 3.
