Shine Bright Baby has powerful message

“The media seems to be nothing but nonsense in today’s world. The radio is filled with music that lacks definition, the television promotes images that lower the standards of society and with all the noise, music seems to have taken a drastic turn for the worst.”

The media seems to be nothing but nonsense in today’s world. The radio is filled with music that lacks definition, the television promotes images that lower the standards of society and with all the noise, music seems to have taken a drastic turn for the worst. The music industry is endangered to the obsession of creating an image. In today’s world, the avid listener needs to believe in something more. Music used to change lives, empower the soul and now it has become tainted under the commercial view of the media. Is there any hope for salvation? Can music become what it once was?

Shine Bright Baby is exactly what the music industry needs. Originating in Orrville, Ohio, Emily Swartzentruber, Nathan Fertig and Harley Hicks began a journey one year ago in forming a band that would aim to give the music industry a new vibe. Now, with the addition of Krislyn Woolley and Matt Troyer, this young band has gone from playing backyard bashes and churches to playing for local coffee shops and opening up for bands like Outrun the Gun and Everyday Sunday.

In just a short amount of time, they have made a name for themselves and have developed quite a following.

So what makes Shine Bright Baby different from any other band trying to make a name for themselves? It’s simple, they have a powerful message.

All of us grew up Christian, and when we first met a year ago we knew we had a lot to say, says guitarist Harley Hicks. We play music to show the power of love, not to press our religion on anyone or become demeaning. People will see that we are Christian by the way we live and how we act, but they will feel the power of hope and love through our lyrics and that’s what we intend to give our fans.

Shine Bright Baby has a distinct sound that retains the intensity of Anberlin’s first album, the artistry of Relient K and the earthiness of Anna Nalick. Quiet Is The New Loud contains a variety of emotions that overwhelms the listener, while songs like Brace Yourself and Heartbreak contain an energetic edge that belongs to the anthems of an enlivened generation. Shine Bright Baby has an allure that breaks multiple genres, creating a sound that is as unique as it is uplifting.

In a world where every new artist is just as good as the one preceding them, SBB brings a new twist to the music industry.

As every new artist experiences, Shine Bright Baby is still trying to find its niche in the world.

We’ve been offered contracts and we’ve turned them down because the music industry is not artist friendly anymore. It’s more about selling a product, and I understand it’s a business, but we refuse to become commercialized, says Emily, the lead vocalist of Shine Bright Baby.

Music lacks a genuine nature that needs to be reawakened, and while their shows have grown to a larger fanbase in such a short time, they remind themselves that their fans are at the heart of their music.

People don’t think for themselves anymore, says Emily of todays music industry. Music is either about nothing at all or it has a negative meaning, and we try to change that by bringing hope to the hopeless.

As everyone knows, you have to be someone to survive in the music industry.

The image of an artist has become more important than their intellectual brilliance in lyricism.

SBB guitarist Nathan says most artists are signed because they look good, but if you look at the lyrics they are horrible and it’s all just a show, and though this remains true, Shine Bright Baby has enough creative genius and enough artistic edge to break this stereotype and bring with them a new ideal to the music world.

Music has become generalized, and it’s about time we brace ourselves for the new generation in music with the rising publicity of bands like Shine Bright Baby.

It’s only a matter of time before they leave their old Wayne County roots behind them and take on the world in full force.

In truth, Shine Bright Baby has a sound that lingers in the back of your mind long after the tracks have ended.

Their lyrics bring an addictive taste that reminds you to play them all over again.
