All “art nerds” are invited to attend a trolley tour of the Inside|Out installations on The University of Akron’s campus and parts of University Park.

“Art Nerd Trolley Tour” is a free tour open to students, faculty and staff on Oct. 8 at 4:30 p.m.

According to the Akron Art Museum’s website, Inside|Out is a “community-activated art project that brings high quality art reproductions from the Akron Art Museum’s collection into your neighborhood.” The museum will install 30 artworks in six different neighborhoods in and around Akron in 2015.

Each artwork piece will be presented by a different UA faculty or student, which will bring diversity to the tour and spark discussion about the artwork.

After the tour, the trolley will take attendees to the Akron Art Museum to view the UA Synapse Lecture with Alexis Rockman.

Rockman, a contemporary artist, will speak at 6:30 p.m. With his landscape paintings that depict a future affected by climate change, genetic engineering, and pollution, he challenges his audience to reflect about who they are and where they are going.

Rockman’s career is based in New York and includes exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Wexner Center.

The UA Synapse series explores art connected by science professionals and disciplines.

Those interested in attending the “Art Nerd Trolley Tour” should meet at the rear of Folk Hall on Thursday. The tour will last about 1.5 to 2 hours. Those in attendance will receive a free book featuring the Akron Art Museum’s collection.

Registration is required to attend. To sign up for the tour, visit http://bit.ly/1FQn10D. Questions can be emailed to Inside|Out program coordinator Roza Maille at [email protected].
