A safe way to trick-or-treat

Students and their families are invited to celebrate Halloween this year at Leggett Community Learning Center, with the fifth annual ‘Trunk-or-Treat’ on Oct. 29.

Trick-or-treating takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This year’s theme is “When I Grow Up!” Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and celebrate Halloween in a fun and safe way.

Trunk-Or-Treat was started in 2010 by Off-Campus Student Services and it is a way to help build a sense of community in the area.

According to Alison Doehring, assistant director of Student Life, twenty to thirty organizations participate in this event and more than 600 people are expected to attend.

Each organization will set up a booth that will display its decorations and treats.

“It’s a fun way to get our UA students and staff thinking outside of the box and being creative in their display area and costumes,” Doehring said.

Groups also have the opportunity to win a pumpkin trophy for best costume and theme at this event.

“This is a great community engagement program that I think is a great collaboration for our institution and Leggett CLC… ServeAkron is happy to be a part of continuing the tradition,” Doehring said.

For any departments or organizations that wish to host a booth at this year’s event, reserve a spot by Friday, Oct. 9. To register visit, https://orgsync.com/70021/forms/161897.
