He recently stated that neither he nor Hillary Clinton faced gunfire while on a 1996 goodwill trip to Bosnia.

Strangely, Sinbad’s recollection is the opposite of Clinton’s.

Last week, Clinton said, I remember landing under sniper fire.

As expected, the Obama camp and his friends, the media, jumped all over the remark. In response, Clinton and her spokesman said she misspoke.

Hang on a second.

I…remember…landing…under…sniper…fire.

How did she misspeak? Did she mean to say, I remember not landing under sniper fire?

What the heck does misspeak mean anyway?

To misspeak is to speak incorrectly, inaccurately or inappropriately. Or, maybe … lie?

Think about this. Do you often remember things that never happened? That’s a tad peculiar.

She didn’t end it there, however. She kept going, and going.

After the speech – in which she misspoke – she gave even more details she remembered about the incident that never happened.

Everyone else was told to sit on their bulletproof vests, Clinton said. And we came in, in an evasive maneuver. … There was no greeting ceremony, and we basically were told to run to our cars. Now, that is what happened.

However, video footage shows Clinton pleasantly strolling across the tarmac, smiling, waving, shaking hands. If you can’t find the video, it might still be linked on Obama’s Web site.

Let’s not judge. If Clinton caught Obama lying – oops, misspeaking – and had video proof, you’d better believe she’d broadcast it.

A former Army Secretary stood up for Clinton, saying that there could be confusion when trying to remember the details of a specific trip taken a decade ago.

Really? That’s what you’re going with?

Confusion is one thing. That would, and should, refer to inconsequential details.

When people are shot at, they tend to remember it – vividly.

When someone has never been shot at, they tend to not mistakenly remember it so vividly.

Granted, there is some confusion about this situation. For starters, why was Sinbad on a goodwill trip to Bosnia with the First Lady?

And, given the media scrutiny of Clinton – which has been cleverly parodied on Saturday Night Live – will she survive this minor blip?

Finally, when is she going to get a better PR person?
