Slacklining pro to appear on campus
April 6, 2016
Famed for flipping, twisting, and tricking in the air—all on a two inch thick rope—Red Bull sponsored slackliner Alex Mason will visit UA’s campus this Monday, April 11, at 12 p.m.
If weather permits, Mason will perform his stunts on or near Coleman Common.
Slacklining, similar to tight rope walking, involves balancing on a narrow, flexible stretch of nylon webbing that is elevated a few feet off the ground between two anchors.
Originally from California, Mason is one of the few American athletes in this field and won the Slackline world championship title in 2013.
Following his campus visit, Mason will be slacklining at the Rock Mill, a rock climbing gym and fitness center located on Carroll Street in Akron that opened last January.
