The Eye Opener & Arnie’s Public House: Hidden Gem of Akron 10-06-16
October 5, 2016
If an omelette with gooey cheese and a Bloody Mary for breakfast is your thing, The Eye Opener is your spot.
It has a variety of breakfast classics: omelettes, pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, gourmet coffees and teas, and more. When I went with my family for breakfast, I got a giant omelette loaded with vegetables and melty cheese and a side of hash browns which I dipped in ketchup – I’m weird, I know.
In my experience, there is a bit of a wait on a weekend morning, but I promise it is well worth the wait. If the bright interiors and coffee won’t wake you up, nothing will.
The breakfast food isn’t the only thing served at The Eye Opener – it also has burgers, sandwiches, and paninis.
There is some parking in front of the plaza and more available spots behind the plaza.
Hours of operation
Monday – Saturday 6:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Arnie’s Public House is a restaurant just a few doors down in the same plaza as The Eye Opener and owned by the same family.
Arnie’s has the comfort food to make you feel right at home. I went here the other night for dinner and ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of maple syrup. I’ve had this same meal at a restaurant in Tennessee, where they are known for this meal, so I had high expectations. I was impressed with what I got at Arnie’s Public House. The chicken was just crispy enough and I dipped it into the maple syrup, using every last drop of it.
The atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxing. There is a bar and some large TVs for sports games.
Hours of operation
Monday – Sunday 11 a.m. – 2:30 a.m.
