Giving Tuesday
November 14, 2016
The Akron Art Museum is joining the #givingtuesday movement in hopes of fully funding the Akron Art Library. Giving Tuesday is a social media driven event that hopes to encourage philanthropic acts by individuals, communities, and organizations at a time when when many people focus on their holiday and end-of-year charity. It will be held the Nov. 29 following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The Akron Art Library is a new project that will give Summit County library card holders the chance to check out original artwork from local, national, and even international artists as if it were a book. The Art Library will be housed at the main branch of the Akron-Summit County Public Library in downtown Akron, and will allow anyone over the age of 18 (along with the card) the chance to check out original pieces of art.
This gives the Summit County community the opportunity create a deeper connection with both art and artists.
Starting Tuesday, Nov. 29 and continuing through December, anyone can help make the Art Library a reality by making a “tax-deductible donation” of any size at AkronArtMuseum.org/donate. Those interested in being involved with the broader #givingtuesday event can visit givingtuesday.org.
