Wednesday afternoon Associated Student Government President Kristen Bowman spoke to students about what ASG does to help the undergraduate body.
Bowman stated that ASG was the voice of the student body for the past 25 years.
I regularly meet with Dr. Proenza and Dr. Stroble to discuss the goings on of campus and how it will impact the student body, Bowman said.
She pointed to past projects like the building of the new recreational center, saying students had come to ASG and stressed their ideas about building one. According to Bowman, ASG has been active in initializing the Harvest for Hunger Food drive and helping with such projects as Quaker Square, the shuttle system and the end of the year concert.
Bowman also talked about new initiatives the organization is looking at such as better parking signs. She pointed to the idea that some students have heard rumors that you can park in certain places as long as you put your caution lights on, when in fact they are being ticketed for parking there. ASG is looking to improve the signs so students know where they can and cannot park.
She also discussed the safety walks that have been happening this year.
Students and administrators walk around campus looking for parts of campus that might need more attention for safety reasons, Bowman said.
She said that come February the university will host the Ohio Student Government Association, which is a state wide conference for all Ohio student governments.
As president, she stated that in the last senate meeting ASG had passed four pieces of legislation, including the sanction of organizations like the anonymous support for eating disorders, Chinese culture society, wrestling club and the safety walks findings.
