“As Zips, we have been bred since our freshman year to loathe the Kent State University Flashes. As fans, we could ask for nothing more than a basketball game on Sunday that has conference champion implications. As Zips, we have been bred since our freshman year to loathe the Kent State University Flashes.
As fans, we could ask for nothing more than a basketball game on Sunday that has conference champion implications.
If UA wins, we will share the Mid-American Conference East title with the Flashes and will most likely play them again in the MAC tournament.
The UA/KSU rivalry is a great time for students to unite and fill James A. Rhodes Arena.
The game is already sold out, which means that student support will be a big factor in the game.
Not only will the crowd play a huge factor, but as a student body, we need to come together and overpower all the Kent fans in attendance Sunday.
Not with force, but with enthusiasm and noise.
The JAR doesn’t sell out very often, but the fact that it is for this game just shows how important it is.
Senior athletes will be playing their final game in Zips jerseys.
Senior students will see their final basketball rivalry game.
The UA/KSU rivlary isn’t quite Duke vs. North Carolina, but, for local sports fans who will never travel to North Carolina, it’s the next best thing.
Fans, students and faculty can be a part of a rivalry that has been around since before most of our student body was born.
We don’t enjoy enough great sports moments at UA, but if history remains true, the UA/KSU game on Sunday will be one for the record books.
