A friend of mine told me yesterday that one of his friends at work is a die-hard Republican, but when he went to vote, he grabbed a Democratic ballot and voted for Hillary Clinton.
If you’re asking yourself why someone would make such a 180 on their political views, you’ve missed the point.
Republicans don’t want to face Barack Obama in a head-to-head campaign for the presidency. They want Clinton because they see her as a weaker target and easily beatable.
If yesterday’s Ohio and Texas primary proved anything, it’s that the Democratic choices haven’t been better in a long time.
Put all the experience bashing and name calling aside and look at what truly matters.
A woman could be our next president.
A black man could be our next president.
In a nation that is supposed to be built on equality, what more could you wan?
According to Hillary Clinton Wednesday morning, we might get both of them. She told CBS’s The Early Show that the potential of having both Obama and herself on the same ticket is a possibility and that it could be leaning that way.
That would be an ideal ticket for many of the Democratic supporters in the country; however, the Democratic primary is not going to end anytime soon.
Obama and Clinton have come so far in their campaigns that you won’t see either of them bow out until it is absolutely necessary for the Democratic Party.
Even then, I’m not sure one would give up all their hard work.
What we saw Tuesday was a revitalized Clinton, who benefited from stints on Saturday Night Live, and demanding that Obama be asked tougher questions and be more scrutinized by the media.
More importantly what we saw on Tuesday was Obama fight back, but not get into her dirty politics. Instead of wallowing in his defeat in Ohio and Texas, he stood up and rejected the mis-led attacks from John McCain and Hillary Clinton throughout the past week.
Clinton and McCain want you to believe you shouldn’t vote for Obama because his speeches are eloquent but empty.
Well, this nation twice voted for a man in George Bush whose speeches reflected the grammar of a 3-year-old-stuttered and confused-and his promises have clearly come up empty.
They also don’t want you to vote for Obama because he doesn’t have the experience that they have.
If you mean experience, like the years of having their minds corrupted under George Bush’s presidency then I guess he doesn’t.
If you mean experience-the past-the exact thing that neither Clinton nor McCain want to take responsibility for in regards to the Iraq war, then you’re right, he doesn’t have that experience.
But why would he want that anyway? Now that Ohio has cast its vote in the wrong direction, we’ll have to let other states bail us out.
Good job, Ohio.
