After the excitement of having two Cleveland Indians pitchers make guest appearances in Akron, starting pitcher Ryan Edell took the mound against the Erie Sea Wolves.
Edell pitched for a solid 6 and 1/3 innings but gave up three runs to the wolves allowing them to take a lead they would not give back.
The change up was very good and also the fastball down really got a lot of ground balls, the 6-foot-1 starter said, referring to what pitches were working for him.
While the defensive side made strides the offensive side of things just could not get anything going.
We had some opportunities and we couldn’t take advantage of it, Manager Mike Sarbaugh said of his hitters. It’s just one of those nights where we couldn’t get anything going offensively. You’ve just got to give credit to their pitching.
The 220 pounds first baseman was the only member of the team to get in three hits last night, something he has been consistent on throughout the year.
You try to get into a routine, Head said. You just understand that throughout the season there’s going to be times where balls you hit and you don’t even hit well find holes.
Head said that every player on the team would go through one of these hitting streaks at one point this season. However, his goal is to try to prolong it for as long as he can.
We both had a chance to dive and catch and we both missed it, he said. My hand just jammed right into his (Panthers) leg. It’s the hand that I had broken a month and a half ago.
While the Aeros ended their winning streak last night, they have the chance to start again.
We will probably sleep in as late as possible, get here, eat a late breakfast and do it all over again,
The Aeros will take on the Sea Wolves on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. and then again on Monday at 2:05 p.m.
