Our View

“If the vast amount of snow in our area we have had to endure these past few days isn’t bad enough, it seems a new problem has arisen. This problem is people walking in the streets. And not just on the side by the curb, but right in the middle. We understand that a lot of the sidewalks are snow covered, but, really, people should try to walk as close to the sidewalk as possible.”

If the vast amount of snow in our area we have had to endure these past few days isn’t bad enough, it seems a new problem has arisen.

This problem is people walking in the streets.

And not just on the side by the curb, but right in the middle.

We understand that a lot of the sidewalks are snow covered, but, really, people should try to walk as close to the sidewalk as possible.

There is no reason to walk right in the middle of oncoming traffic.

Really people.

Did your mothers teach you nothing?

Walking in the middle of traffic is not only dangerous for the driver that has to swerve, it is also dangerous for the pedestrian that is walking.

Since the human race sometimes has trouble comprehending and understanding simple common sense, an even better idea would be to have the city of Akron actually help to clear the sidewalks.

The city should take some of the responsiblity in keeping their citizens safe.

And so far, they’re failing in this area.

They need to have people out there clearing the sidewalks.

It’s almost as important as the streets.

When this is finally realized, drivers will have less of a headache when driving and pedestrians that are walking won’t have to risk getting hit.

It’s really a win win situation.

Too bad the city will never bother to do it.

It’s a shame.
