Where would my life be without television?
Well, for starters my grades would probably be a lot better and I would definitely have more time to read all those books collecting dust on my shelf.
But then I also would have never discovered Flight of the Concords.
Not only are these guys funny, but their music is pretty catchy too and if you didn’t get a chance to see them perform last Sunday in Kent, then you really missed out.
It doesn’t matter whether you’ve seen their show on HBO or not. Bret (not Brit) and Jemaine (not Jermaine) have it all covered, from their quick wit right down to their multi-talented instrumental skills.
Their comedy was entirely based around the reactions and comments of the audience, throwing out witty observations in between songs.
Kristen Schaal, the actor who plays Mel, was also nice enough to grace us with her presence as the opening act.
Even when she is out of character, she still manages to creep me out.
The band also had a back-up cellist play for half of their set, which they called The New Zealand Orchestra.
New Zealand should be proud.
They’ve now managed to give me two things to laugh at: The Lord of the Rings, and Flight of the Concords.
