Good music is just around the corner

There is little that gets me more excited than new, good music.

This week marks a highly anticipated album release that I’ve been waiting for, for almost three years.

Daisy, the new album that was released Tuesday by Brand New, was everything I had anticipated and more.

Not only was it lyrically up to par, but they changed every way that they produce their music in some songs.

Some fans completely detested this album, and I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I know when to appreciate good music.

My advice is to go on their Myspace , www.myspace.com/brandnew, and check out their new album, and some of their older stuff too if you are a Brand New virgin and decide for yourself.

And if you happen to like them, they will be playing at the Time Warner Amphitheatre in Cleveland Oct. 1.

Along with the lovely bunch mentioned above, great music seems to just be floating around these days.

The TV show Gossip Girl has some of the best music I could hope to discover.

And please, don’t assume that it would have the stereotypical Taylor Swift and Jonas Brothers soundtrack just because it’s on Gossip Girl.

Artists and songs that are displayed on this show include Matt & Kim’s Don’t Slow Down, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Zero and The Cold War Kids’ Against Privacy.

If you are familiar with any of the previously listed bands, you are well aware that the music that dances around the background of this show is nothing but the best that any music guru could ask for.

And if you aren’t familiar with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Cold War Kids or Matt & Kim, then you should Youtube, Google, or Myspace them and give yourself a musical education on some of my favorite bands.

But, good music finds don’t stop at TV shows.

Yes, they go beyond to the world of commercials.

Recently, the Bacardi Mojito commercial showcased Matt & Kim’s song Daylight, which is a fun, catchy, tap-your toe to the beat song.

The Postal Service’s song Such Great Heights, background music was heard on the background of a commercial UPS did early this year.

As you can see, good music is just about everywhere, you just need to listen.
