Good things have been happening for the University of Akron.
Take the brand new stadium, for instance, and even before that there was the construction of the brand new Exchange and Quaker Square dorms.
There’s no point in even touching on parking…we’ll get there when we get there.
Of all these things, probably the biggest accomplishment of the university is that every single addition has contributed to one major feat. More students!
Yes, it’s true. This year, enrollment has increased by 7.6 percent since the fall of 2008.
Students and faculty would have to be completely oblivious not to notice that.
That’s great publicity for the university, but what does it mean for us?
Again, let’s not beat the parking situation to death.
Additionally, students must now face the daily walking rush to class, going elbow to elbow through campus.
Speaking of classes and elbow room, it seems like students are now sharing their personal space with their classmates.
It’s just a guess, but that could be due to the number of student credit hours increasing from 300,871 to 326,100.
So what do you do with such an inconvenience?
Before you think about skipping class, why not consider getting there a little early? At least you’ll get a seat!
Also, think about applying traffic laws to everyday walking.
Walk on the right side of the path.
If you happen to cross paths with a friend, maybe consider stepping to the side so other students can make it to their destination.
After all, a little courtesy gets you a long way.
