Tap House, formerly known as Scorchers on Waterloo Road, has become a fan favorite at the University of Akron.
Students can get quality food at affordable prices and it provides a much different atmosphere than most places around campus can offer.
With 17 large screen TVs and countless sports packages, Tap House is always a great place to hang out and watch a game.
Along with being a sponsor for University of Akron athletics, Tap House is now one of the main sponsors of the AK-ROWDIES.
In fact, it is the official watch party headquarters for Akron Zips away games throughout the fall.
After 18 months under the name of Scorcher’s, owner Randy Arehart decided to go at it alone and thus changed the name to Tap House.
AK-ROWDIES President Ian Tayek chose to bring Arehart and Tap House in as a sponsor, he cited his long support of Zips athletics.
He loves this university. He loves the AK-ROWDIES, and we are so happy to have him on board this year, Tayek said.
The business opened in December of 2007.
In addition, many positive changes were made to the building to better accommodate the growing crowd.
A new lighted patio adds additional seating, bringing the total capacity to 225.
