Holiday tips for every type

“The economy is terrible. I know, I know. That is one sentence we are all sick of seeing, but as the holidays are literally around the corner, the hellish times of spending money none of us seem to have is finally upon us. So, as college students, what shall we do since the majority of us have no money to spend on gifts for family members and friends? For some of us, buying gifts isn’t a reality, I won’t be getting any gifts for anyone, I’m broke, says Emily Meyers.”

So, as college students, what shall we do since the majority of us have no money to spend on gifts for family members and friends?

For some of us, buying gifts isn’t a reality, I won’t be getting any gifts for anyone, I’m broke, says Emily Meyers.

But,there are many alternative ideas that can be more affordable, thoughtful and creative and can be made or bought easily.

For the crafty:

Crafts can come in handy when you have little to no money to spend during the holidays.

By simply grabbing a group of equally poor college student friends of yours and your imagination, entering a craft store can open your eyes to ideas of making various things.

Scrapbooking supplies are a great, cheap gift that many people that you give it to will enjoy. Pat Catan’s has a lot of good stuff for making scrapbooks, says senior, Brandi Rodgers about what she will be doing to make holiday gifts.

Albums can be bought for as cheap at $3 and packs of stickers range from $2-10 at Joann Fabric stores, and pictures can be printed as most drug stores for 20 cents a pictures and even less if you buy them in bulk.

For the homemaker:

Everyone loves food.

And when it comes to the holiday season, food is just as prevalent as the holiday tunes that are blasting from every radio stations speakers.

Last Christmas, my sister and I made chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows and cookies.

To get the chocolate ready for dipping: boil water in a saucepan, set aside the saucepan and place a heat proof bowl full of semisweet chocolate chips inside of the saucepan according to foodnetwork.com.

To make this delicious treat look like a true gift, buy saline wrap and bows from any local craft store and wrap up an assortment of your heavenly chocolate dipped treasures.

For the uncreative:

If you’re not the crafty/Betty Crocker type, then dollar stores/sections should be your new best friend.

Probably any little store like Target, junior Cecil Dutch says about where he plans on getting his holiday shopping done.

When it comes to Target, I am completely biased as I feel there is no store better than the place, but it’s recently added dollar section that is usually located in the front of the store has something for everyone, from your dog to your grandma.

Flavored coffees, glove sets, coloring books, jewelry and door mats are all various things you can find here, along with much more.

A gift set of dollar items can be the perfect gift for any random stuff loving person.

For the online shopper:

I will take it one step further to the online shopper. If beating the holiday masses that are our scavenging the shelves isn’t your cup of tea, online shopping should be your choice for present buying.

Not only can you browse entire stores within minutes, but you can wear your favorite Santa Claus pajamas and light-up reindeer slippers without getting judged.

There are great deals to be had online, which is also another perk to online shopping.

If you’re into humor perpetualkid.com has great, cheap items in which you can find almost anything for anyone on your holiday shopping list.

From bandages that look like strips of bacon to Why I Must Get Drunk With You notepaper, it’s obvious that the gifts purchased from this Web site are sure to be a hit with anyone that has a sense of humor.

Deals on shipping rates are also another thing that adds to the leisure that is online shopping.

With simple clicks of a mouse, you can get your entire shopping list crossed off and without spending a dime on gas.
