A discovery was made Saturday morning when a dead body was found in Infocision Stadium before that day’s scheduled football game.

The body was found at approximately 10 a.m. University spokesperson Laura Massie said that The University of Akron Police had told her the “body was a male, non-student in his early 20’s.” Massie was also able to state that she was informed by the police that the death was an apparent suicide.

The male has been identified as not being a current student; however, he was previously enrolled at the University. He did not graduate and was not a student during the current semester.

The body was found in the stands of the stadium several hours before the beginning of the football game versus Ohio University later that afternoon.

The band had been at the stadium for practice during the investigation of the scene, according to an anonymous student.

The game was held as scheduled. No identification has yet been released for the body.
