What do UA students like to do in their down time? For some students that question is very to easy answer. The University of Akron provides several places for students to call their hang out spot on campus. The Student Union and Rec center top the list of places students prefer to spend their free time.
Second year UA student Kiersten Benford said, The Student Union is the place to go because it has everything; food, game room, and study lounges. It’s just a good place for friends to gather. Recently, The University of Akron brought two new stores, Starbucks and Verizon Wireless, to campus on the Exchange strip near Exchange Residence hall.
The Exchange strip already includes a Dairy Queen, Orange Julius and Zee’s Grille & Convenience Store. These stores all allow students to use their Zip Cards’ dining or off-campus dollars. I feel like the stores on the Exchange strip are wonderful, but they should add a T-mobile, said UA junior India Mynatt.
These stores add more of a variety to the Exchange strip for students to spend their down time.
Verizon Wireless Manager Stefanie Ingramm said, I love the new location and once people notice we are here we are going to get busier.
Starbucks’s Student Manager Ashley Lonsbury said, I love that I’m a part of a great team helping a new store getting off on the right foot. I really enjoy all the new customers and seeing old ones coming over from the Union.
The new stores also add a convenience for UA students. UA student Jeilee Letcher said, I think they’re both really convenient that they’re right there so you don’t have to go all the way to the Union for Starbucks and you don’t have to go all the way home for a Verizon store.
Verizon Wireless is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours for Starbucks are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Starbucks is also open on the weekends, Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.Down Time For Students on the Exchange Strip
