In response to the March 21 article “Thinking of the future, remembering the past.”

I have spent my whole life in the business of science, engineering and technology. I even recently returned to take some courses leading to
a physician or nurse job at The University of Akron. The Tech library, Bierce Library and the other area county libraries are places of refuge and learning for me.

I remind you that our constitution was formed by men who used Judeo-Christian principals to begin the United States.

Your comments deserve some thoughtful replies! God asked Job, “Job where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth!”

The Bible says nothing about when this all happened! Man assumes that it only happened when he, “the human,” appeared on this earth. But it is well known that God inspired man to record and write these ancient scrolls.

From paleontology we know the oldest fossil record on Earth is somewhere in India. It is over 300 million years old. So it is true that there is a “Cube of limitless learning” that will be always expanding.

When you are young, I do agree that the way older people think and do things may seem archaic. I have lived more than six decades and attended The University of Akron during the second and third decades of life. Vietnam was raging and the Army was drafting people. So it might appear to you that our experience has outlasted its usefulness.

My mom is still alive (almost 90) and my sister pays her bills. I do have to admit that my sister could use “Bill Pay” and save herself the time, cost of the stamps and the trouble of paying bills by Snail-mail.” She uses a cell phone, I do not carry one!

Every U.S. soldier or sailor in the world can now communicate by Skype or email on a daily or weekly basis. You have no idea what it is like to be on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, newly married, with your family 8,000 miles away.

The quickest correspondence was over five weeks! Too bad we had to invent GPS and cell technology! That said, even if you think I am being preposterous, The Cube of Limitless Learning lies some where within the sphere of God’s infinite wisdom. I know it may seem trite, but 1 John 3-I quotes: “All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made, that was made.”

I am a veteran of the United States Navy Seabees — 22 years. I respect whatever belief you choose to use and respect the current diversity. I will continue to support your right to your beliefs, say what you wish, think what you want and post it for others’ thoughtful consideration.

That is your American constitutional right. I will defend it to my death, even though I may not agree.
