Ballroom dance team weekend results

The UA Ballroom Dance Competition Team returned from a tournament last weekend yielding impressive results.
The team competed in the University of Michigan Ballroom Competition on Saturday, April 11.
Each event in this tournament was called a “heat,” which comprised three rounds, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. The amount of couples in each heat successively dwindled, as judges chose those couples they thought best to move to the next round. Each heat began with around 130 couples; the final round comprised six couples.
Robert Wagner and Alyssa Reese made it to the second round in Bronze Viennese Waltz; Bronze International Samba, Foxtrot, Jive; Newcomer International Quickstep, Tango; and American Cha-cha. The couple also made it to quarterfinals in Newcomer International Waltz and Newcomer American Foxtrot; and semifinals in Newcomer American Waltz and Newcomer American Tango.
Joshua Dyson and Jenna Bulgrin made it to the second round in Bronze Waltz/Quickstep, Jive; Newcomer International Waltz; and Newcomer Tango. The couple also made it to semifinals in Newcomer International Cha-cha.
Kyle Kowicki and Taylor Byers made it to the second round in Bronze International Tango.
Jeremy Winter and Megan Brophy made it to the second round in Bronze International Waltz/Quickstep and Jive; and made it to semifinals in Bronze International Tango.
Russell Weaver and Mary Kate Prokopius made it to the second round in Newcomer International Waltz and Rumba; quarterfinals in Newcomer International Tango; and semifinals in Newcomer International Jive and Cha-cha.
Kyle Jones and Abigail Wakefield made it to the second round in Newcomer International Cha-cha.
Nathan Ariza and Meredith Kroeger made it to the third round in Bronze American Swing; quarterfinals in Newcomer International Waltz; and semifinals in Newcomer International Quickstep, Cha-cha, and Rumba.
Patrick Keenan and his partner from Case Western Reserve University made it to the second round in Newcomer International Waltz, Quickstep, and Cha-cha.
