There is no need for students to be outraged because they no longer can wear cut-off shirts and sports bras when they’re sweating all over the equipment in the rec.

However, as disgusting as it is that most students don’t clean the equipment they use, this rule shouldn’t apply to those playing basketball.

In fact, if it was such a big deal to wear cut-off shirts because of the fear of transmitting germs and skin diseases, why would every basketball organization known to the common public allow their players to wear cut-offs during games and practices?

Wearing a cut-off shirt or jersey is commonplace within these sports and has been done forever, so students should be allowed to wear cut-offs when playing sports in the rec.

Does this mean that athletes who train in the field house can’t wear cut-offs while they are practicing? Why should students have to wear shirts with sleeves if athletes training in a joined facility don’t have to?

Wear sleeves when working out on the equipment, not on the basketball court.
