Play the president
September 28, 2016
This Monday, Oct. 3, University of Akron Interim President Matthew Wilson will be challenging anyone who thinks they can beat him in basketball.
A court will be set up outside the Student Union entrance near Starbucks where, weather permitting, Wilson will play students one-on-one or in a game of H.O.R.S.E. If you beat the president, you get a $5 Starbucks gift card.
This is the second time this semester Wilson has challenged students to basketball. According to University spokesman Dan Minnich, he has more of these informal competitions planned for the rest of the academic year. But what about when the weather gets cold?
Practice your bowling.

I think this is so great!! I love how UA’s Interim President interacts with everyone on this campus. In the short time he’s been in office, he’s already made such a difference. As a staff member, I’ve seen employee morale basically on the floor over the past year…and it has been very apparent to students, as well as the surrounding community. As a result, current students have not been getting the college experience they deserve, and prospective students have been looking elsewhere for their education…hurting UA’s enrollment. Morale is now on the upswing because of President Wilson. Once morale has improved, other positive things will start falling into place. This is basic stuff…people are an organization’s biggest asset. When you kill morale, you kill your organization!
Thank you President Wilson for your good work so far!! We appreciate you!!
