“On Feb. 21, we said, in this space, that celebrity presidential endorsements are useless. At that time we felt taking an actor’s opinion on the presidential race was one of the most ridiculous things one could listen to. We’d like to retract that statement: it’s the second most ridiculous group of people to look to for an opinion.”

On Feb. 21, we said, in this space, that celebrity presidential endorsements are useless.
At that time we felt taking an actor’s opinion on the presidential race was one of the most ridiculous things one could listen to.
We’d like to retract that statement: it’s the second most ridiculous group of people to look to for an opinion.
Celebrities have been replaced by the one of the more neanderthalistic group’s on the planet: athletes.
In recent weeks, former basketball star Magic Johnson has endorsed Hillary Clinton.
Curt Schilling has appeared in advertisements in support of Republican Candidate John McCain.
The most recent athlete to come forward was Youngstown native Kelly Pavlik. Pavlik is currently the WBC and WBO undefeated world middleweight boxing champion.
In Clinton’s speech in Akron Sunday, Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic tried to liken Pavlik to Clinton stating that they’re both fighters.
If there is anyone we wouldn’t want to listen to about politics, its Pavlik. Likewise, no one cares – or should care – what Clinton thinks about the Pavlik’s next title defense.
There isn’t two worlds more different than politics and sports.
Let’s keep them seperate.
