Wealth, addiction and love complications galore- the three ingredients which almost always result in a wildly entertaining viewing experience.
The Last International Playboy has all of these elements. The directorial debut of Steve Clark, the film, which made a huge splash at the Sundance Film Festival under the title Frost, focuses around New York City casanova Jack Frost, a character who is loosely based off of famous American journalist George Pimpton.
Jack, played by Roswell’s Jason Behr, after learning his childhood romance is engaged to another man, pulls a Lindsay Lohan and turns to booze and volatile behavior to heal his pain.
As Jack drinks himself to oblivion, his friends Ozzy (Krysten Ritter), Scotch (Mike Landry) and Kate (Lucy Gordon) try their hardest to save him from the forces of evil. But the person who ultimately influences Jack and helps him see the light is not one of his adult friends, but his 11 year-old neighbor Sophie (India Ennenga).
To bring a heavy dose of sex to the film, Clark also cast a bevy of drop dead gorgeous models, including the baby-faced Lisa Cant, the stunning Aussie Nicole Trunfio of Make Me a Supermodel, and Victoria’s Secret angel Shannan Click. Heiress/model Lydia Hearst makes a cameo as well.
On May 29, 2009, the Last International Playboy will premiere at the Village East Cinema and beginning June 12, will be featured in select theaters around the country. To commemorate the opening of the film, the producers are launching a contest from June to December 2009 during which undergraduates will battle it out to see who can sell the most DVDs, posters and T-shirts.
This may sound a little unappealing, but the grand prize of $10,000, which can either be given in the form of tuition or cash, certainly adds a level of excitement to the procedures. Even better, each student involved in the contest will receive a 10 percent commission on each piece of merchandise sold, paid out monthly. The winner will be announced January 15, 2010. This is the perfect opportunity for any cash-strapped college student to make a quick and easy buck- or ten thousand of them!
