Clink, clink. With every coin, donations are piling up in the union to relieve Haiti after the several earthquakes hit the small Caribbean nation last month.
So far there have been several donations toward the cause. Many students have put in change; a few have put in small bills. There are even a few $20 bills within the large donation containers.
Donations toward the effort will be given to the Red Cross to help with the relief effort or will be given toward a group going to Haiti.
Students can still donate to the relief efforts at the table outside of Union Market in the Student Union for the remainder of the semester from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Although there have been many donations, additional donations toward Haiti relief would be much appreciated.
The city of Akron, joined with the American Red Cross, the Akron Beacon Journal, the Akron Community Foundation and FirstMerit Bank is also raising money for the needs of Haiti. As of Monday, the Haiti Relief Account has reached $41,132.08.
If you want to get involved in the Haiti relief effort, please contact Tyler Six by e-mail at [email protected] or by calling 330-972-7323 or consider donating some of your spare change or even something more to the cause.
