I do it because sometimes I feel pressed for time and I feel obligated to answer the question now. I’m sure it’s the same with other people. Anyone who tells you that they have never texted while driving is lying.
Duckworth said, I will admit that I text and drive, but I don’t think I’ve had any terrible experiences. Maybe a few narrowly missed mailboxes, but that’s about it. I know it’s dangerous, but sometimes there are things that need immediate attention.
Duckworth and Lanshe said when driving a car they try to text only when stopped at a red light.
Nick Fragiskatos, a sophomore computer engineering major, said texting while driving is dangerous; he tries to keep it to a minimum and has never had a bad experience while driving.
Melissa Fetzer, a sophomore education major, does not text while driving. You can’t read and write the texts and pay attention to the road at the same time. Well, some people can, but I can’t, she said.
Fetzer, Duckworth, Lanshe and Fragiskatos said they have friends who text while driving. When Duckworth is in the car with friends who text, she will offer to text for them.
According to the Federal Communications Commission, mobile communications are linked to a significant increase in distracted driving, which results in injury or death.
