Girl About Campus: Why we like fall

Written by: Helen Dauka

We love fall because it only lasts for about a month. It’s like our really cool, exclusive friend. We don’t get to hang out that often. We don’t have time to be spoiled by fall, or to forget how great it is. We know that in a couple of weeks it will be gone, so we’d better soak up every minute we have together.

We post pictures and statuses because we want everyone to know that, yes, we’re hanging out with fall. There’s a short window where this is possible. If you don’t take advantage of it while you can, you might as well go back to Instagramming the food you’re making or the family you’re hanging out with, because never has there been a more appropriate time than Thanksgiving.

You know why wearing sweaters is so much more awesome in fall than at any other time? Because we don’t have to be wearing them. We wear them because we want to.

Fall is that fabulous in-between time when you can still get away with not wearing a sweater. That’s why fall is such a cool friend. It doesn’t make you do anything you don’t want to do.

So excuse me while I sip my third pumpkin spice latte of the day while wearing my cardigan. I mean, I’ve been doing that this whole time, but I can’t type and take an Instagram picture of it all at once! #pumpkinspice #YES #fall #cardi #GirlAboutCampus
