“The verdict is in: Ruckus gets a thumbs down. If you’re excited about the free music downloading program, you haven’t checked it out yet. Sure, it’s free. It has to be. No one would actually pay for this. Allow us to provide a quick tutorial. Go to ruckus.”

If you’re excited about the free music downloading program, you haven’t checked it out yet.

Sure, it’s free. It has to be. No one would actually pay for this.

Allow us to provide a quick tutorial.

Go to ruckus.com. Register.

Struggle to set up the ad-filled Ruckus player for roughly one hour. Then realize the music won’t go on your iPod or CDs. If you run a Mac, forget it altogether.

The only thing you can do with the music downloads is play them on your computer.

Free music sounds great, but we doubt Ruckus is going keep many students from using illegal file-sharing software like Limewire.

All the students we’ve talked to want nothing to do with Ruckus.

Student government brought us Ruckus. You would think they have their fingers on the pulse of the campus community.

News flash: They do not.

Considering that only about 2 percent of the student body votes in Associated Student Government elections, it would be fair to say that ASG is less than mainstream.

Ruckus stands as the best evidence that ASG is woefully out of touch with the students it claims to represent.

Needless to say, most students aren’t going to be terribly grateful to ASG members for having spent countless hours working on this project.

At least ASG isn’t wasting public dollars on this one.
