I love having a piano in the Student Union. However, I don’t love when people decide to play it.

Don’t get me wrong. I love playing the piano myself. I took lessons for 13 years.

It irks me, however, to hear guys playing piano solely to pick up chicks. That’s what it’s about. You can recognize these guys by their two-song playlist, which is the Titanic theme song followed by that one Michelle Branch song.

They are lucky I don’t get up there and play, because after doing so they’d have a very hard time picking up any girls still hanging around.

I don’t, though. I never sit down and play because I think it’s somewhat pretentious and cocky to assume everyone in Starbucks or watching TV wants to hear me play. I wish everyone had the same mindset.

Not that I don’t love the Titanic theme song.
