Consider these stats from ESPN’s Fantasy Football League Scoring chart.
Last year’s MVP LaDanian Tomlinson is ranked 33rd in rushing yards with 130 and 8th in touchdowns for running backs.
He led both categories last season.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo leads all fantasy players with 71 points, just one ahead of New England Patriots QB Tom Brady.
The Vikings Defense/Special Teams leads all defenses in total points at 56. That’s 23 more points than the Bears D/ST and 22 more than the Ravens D/ST.
No fantasy owner went into this season thinking that the Vikings Defense/Special Teams unit would be ahead of arguably the two best defenses in the league.
After starting only two games, Browns QB Derek Anderson has 54 points, which puts him ahead of Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and Donovan McNabb. By no means should you ever take Anderson over any of those QB’s, though.
Maurice Jones-Drew, a 2006 fantasy standout, and potential late-round steal Andre Davis of the Houston Texans have less than 10 points.
Heading into week four, consider either benching or starting these players.
Start
QB Matt Schaub – Houston Texans.
Schaub is facing a Falcons team that is 0-3 and completely depleted. Though receiver Andre Davis is questionable to play, Schaub still has Jacoby Jones to throw to against a Falcons defense that ranks 17th in the league.
RB Marion Barber – Dallas Cowboys.
Barber has been an impact player in the 2007 season, accumulating 256 rushing yards and four touchdowns while splitting time with Julius Jones. Barber will rush against a St. Louis defense that has been unable to stop anyone this season.
RB LaMont Jordan – Oakland Raiders.
Jordan is second in the league with 350 rushing yards and two touchdowns. While the Raiders are not collectively a very good team, the Dolphins defense ranks 20th and is allowing 28 points-per-game.

QB Jon Kitna – Detroit Lions. Kitna leads the league in passing yards with 980, but the Bears defense will be hungry after allowing 34 points to the Dallas Cowboys last week. Don’t expect the break out games Kitna has had so far this week.
WR Anquan Boldin and WR Larry Fitzgerald – Arizona Cardinals.
While Boldin and Fitzgerald are a threat at any point during a game, the Cardinals are in limbo at the quarterback position. Cardinals quarterbacks Matt Lienart and Kurt Warner face a Steelers defense that ranks No. 2 in the league and will frustrate the Cardinals offense all day long.
RB Steven Jackson – St. Louis Rams.
Jackson is out this week in the Rams game vs. the Dallas Cowboys with a partial groin tear.
