“Fluorescent lights dot the room with a spectacle of color, a disc jockey spins the latest top 40 music, and everyone has on their Friday best. It seems like the best place to be, but then you notice that you have heard those songs a hundred times that day, and you swear you have seen those old guys with the swanky suits somewhere before.”

Fluorescent lights dot the room with a spectacle of color, a disc jockey spins the latest top 40 music, and everyone has on their Friday best.
It seems like the best place to be, but then you notice that you have heard those songs a hundred times that day, and you swear you have seen those old guys with the swanky suits somewhere before.
The reason for this is because you have probably stood in line before and gotten into Club Lux. Every cloud has a silver lining, but the only silver lining in this bar is the entranceway.
However happening and hip this club may be described by the locals, it is nothing to write home about.
If you have seen one downtown club, you have seen them all. Of course Lux does have its share of uniqueness; the lounge area around the club does a nice job of trying to provide a relaxed atmosphere in a very energetic space.
It is encouraging when a club realizes that some people do not enjoy dancing their brains out and wasting all the alcohol they pre-gamed with before going out, but instead like to take in the music and groove within their own space.
That is if they are the kind of people who enjoy repetition and the safety of the familiar. It is not that the DJ is devoid of talent but merely that they have to adhere to a routine that is typical to most clubs.
As most nights of the weekend are concerned with liquor of some sort it is important to note the selection at Club Lux. The beer specials are on a nightly cycle. On Thursday there are $2 Miller Lite, and then on a Friday or Saturday they offer discounted shots.
There is a cover charge for the club, but it is not enough to affect the funds someone would devote toward purchasing alcohol. The dress code has been toned down a bit from when it was Posh, but still do not expect to get in with your Chuck Taylors or finest boots on.
If you are a fan of 18-and-up clubs, because it is noted that much of the university’s student population is underage, this could be your spot. If your night-to-night attire is less than spectacular you may want to step it up a bit for this club.
The one great thing this place has going for it is that, aside from Thursday’s Lounge, it is really the only dance club in downtown Akron. As university students, we have been given a raw deal when it comes to this aspect. Those who have a feel for a festivity of clubbing usually have to drive all the way to Downtown Cleveland and then hope someone is sober enough at the end of the night to safely drive back.
Club Lux comes in handy because the cab fare home will be cheap enough that everyone can afford it after drowning a wad of cash at the bar. The downside is that if Club Lux is having an off-night then there is really nowhere else to venture for a club scene.
We are in an age of the popular becoming the peak for a good drunken time, but as we all know hearing that a party is incredible is not necessarily true once you check it out for yourself.
It can be entertaining to head up to the local hot spot in a given city and it is fun to get all fancied up for a night on the town.
If you work hard for the money you spend and hate to see it burnt up by a false prophecy of a smashing good time; keep it in your pocket as you strut by the promising, but altogether impersonator of a Luxurious spirited night.
