Don't fall in line

“It is over halfway through the third week of school and waiting has not subsided; you may find yourself waiting for waiting for parking, food, and other things throughout the day. It is over halfway through the third week of school and waiting has not subsided; you may find yourself waiting for waiting for parking, food, and other things throughout the day.

Lines entering parking lots and decks can be quite long.

Also, lines waiting for food at the Union Market can be nearly thirty minutes.

As a result of this increasing congestion of cars and on-campus eateries, some students have altered their daily patterns; changing the times they eat and arrive on campus just to avoid lunch hour and rush hour bustle.

But is it really necessary to alter such well-regimented patterns, just to avoid the unavoidable?

Perhaps to avoid long lunch lines you could go to a different place to eat once in a while, such as the Taco Bell or McDonald’s on Exchange, so you can stick to the schedule you have grown accustomed to.

Waiting in lines for parking is a different matter entirely.

The only real way to deal with this problem is to show up early to campus for a parking spot.

The fact is that there are far less spots than there are students.

Although the university seems to be trying to lessen this problem by starting construction on a new Exchange Street Parking deck as well as paving a new lot at the corner of Carroll St. and Wolf Ledges Parkway, the timing of this construction is very inconvenient.

So, if you want to find food during lunch hour, get rid of the problem by not adding to the lines and going some place else.

Go to a different on-campus eatery, or god forbid possibly Rob’s Café, or perhaps go to an off-campus restaurant.

Whatever the problem you may find in food lines and waiting for food, don’t simply complain, do something about it.

Now if you find a problem with parking, there is not much you can do at the moment.

If you really want to avoid the problem of parking altogether, you are just going to have to arrive earlier to find a spot.

Or if you live on- campus simply don’t drive to class.

You are wasting spots and contributing to the problem.

If you have a problem with lines and waiting, don’t whine about it; do something.
