“Everyone I talk to says the Browns organization couldn’t field a decent team if they had every draft pick. Maybe true, but we need to give Eric Mangini and company time. Everyone I talk to says the Browns organization couldn’t field a decent team if they had every draft pick.
Maybe true, but we need to give Eric Mangini and company time.

Not when you look at it closely. Winslow’s discontent with the team was growing every week, and his young body has aged beyond its years (and closer to its expiration date) thanks to motorcycles and linebackers. He only played roughly half the games during the time he was signed with Cleveland.
We haven’t signed any free agents either. Why? Because after the elite tier of Hayneworths and Cassels, the free agents of 2009 suck. Come on, when former Dolphins CB Andre Goodman signs for $25.2 million, you know that teams are signing free agents solely for the sake of signing free agents.
Also, keep in mind that Mangini is a product of the Belichick cult of secrecy; no one would have guessed Winslow would be gone this time last week. Mangini and his staff surely have a few tricks up their sleeves and are dedicating most of their focus to the upcoming draft.
So pop a Prozac and focus on the bright side, Cleveland.
