On Tuesday, the University of Akron’s President Luis Proenza announced that a $500 million goal was not only reached but was surpassed.
The university raised over$606 million.
This is quite an accomplishment. And we commend Proenza on his good work.
With this money he will be able to do a lot for the university.
It is hoped, though, that he uses it on things that are actually needed.
It seems like some of the time university money is used on things that are not really a necessity.
For example, is it really necessary that the university run the Roo Express so often?
The busses drive around all day using a lot fuel, and fuel isn’t cheap lately.
So, there goes a lot of money.
The university needs to figure out what will really help the students.
More flat screen TVs in the union won’t.
A better, more put together library will help.
