On Friday, March 6 ZPN’s Adult and Family division held its annual Family Night at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. This is one of its most popular events, put together by current Adult and Family Chair, Logan Hershberger. Hershberger has been involved with ZPN since his freshman year and loves the opportunity it gives him to be involved on campus.

Hershberger said he enjoys Family Night at the rec in particular because it allows students and their families the ability to utilize the rec’s facilities for free.

“Plus we’ve got food and activities and it’s just an all-around fun time,” Hershberger said.

ZPN focuses solely on getting all types of students involved and providing “enriching and enlightening programs” to enhance everyone’s college experience.

Like previous years, the entirely free event was a success. With pizza, soda and a cookie decorating station, students and their families were able to fuel up before exerting themselves on the big inflatable bounce house, swimming in the pool, and climbing on the rock wall. There was also a photo booth with props, a caricature artist, and a showing of the children’s movie “Alexander & the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day.”

Kristine, a psychology major from Barberton, brought her grandchildren to the event with her daughter, Kashia, who is a student studying criminology.

“I always keep my eyes out for free events to bring the kids to,” Kristine said.

Jennifer, a mechanical engineering major from Fairlawn, brought her younger siblings to this event in previous years and said they have always enjoyed themselves. She particularly appreciates the kid friendly movies, while her siblings, Ruth and John, really enjoyed the cookie decorating.

Lavonne Evans, an English major from West Akron, said, “We wanted to come utilize this facility because I had never been here and I promised my grandson I would bring him to campus, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.”

ZPN President Carli Baker encourages anyone who has questions about getting their families involved to contact ZPN.

“We would love to have more great turn outs like this,” Baker said.
