On Sept. 25, ZPN Late Night hosted the Ballroom Dance Club to teach students how to swing dance.

At 10 p.m., a large number of students gathered in the Student Union, eager to learn.

To start, the Ballroom Dance Club broke down the basics of swing dancing. After giving students a chance to learn the steps, the males were instructed to ask a female to dance.

As per proper ballroom etiquette, the males approached the females with their hand out and asked the female to dance. Everyone grabbed a partner and tried their best to stay on beat.

When the dance was over, the male thanked the female.

As the night went on, students grew more comfortable with the steps. The moves became more advanced. By the end of the night, students knew how to do different turns and how to move around the floor more.

“Seeing everyone come to out to swing dance was so satisfying because everyone was involved, ready to learn and smiling,” ZPN Executive Board Member Ashley Ritter said.

Dancing wasn’t the only part of the late night event. Milkshakes and french fries were free to students who attended. All students were entered to win one of five Steak ‘n Shake gift cards or a dance movie with a Steak ‘n Shake coupon.

All ZPN events are free to current UA students. For anyone interested in joining ZPN, meetings are Mondays at 4:30 p.m. in Room 316 of the Student Union.

The Ballroom Dance Club social nights are Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Guzzetta Hall Room 394.
