The University of Akron Track and Field team competes at the Akron Annual Invitational on Feb. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Fans can expect running, jumping, and throwing events to take place simultaneously throughout the competition.
The UA Track and Field team has about 80 student-athletes, and a history of success. The men’s team won and the women’s team placed second at the 2025 Indoor Track MAC Championship.
According to Kendra Reimer-Gonzales, director of the University of Akron’s track and field team, the track is a unique sport because many people have never watched some of the events such as pole vault and triple jump.
“It’s a great event. Music is playing the whole time,” she said.
Student admission is free with a valid University of Akron Zip Card. Other fans and members of the public must buy tickets in advance on the Akron Athletics website, for $10 a ticket.
Fans attending the meet must walk through the UA’s Student Recreation Center to be admitted into the Louis & Freda Stile Athletic Fieldhouse, where the track meet takes place. Seating for fans is available in the bleachers. The fieldhouse does not have concessions for this event.
