The University of Akron football team has added a new member to their coaching staff.

Zips head coach J.D. Brookhart announced Oct. 12 that former University of Toledo offensive coordinator Chris Hedden will be the new UA tight ends coach.

Chris was the offensive coordinator at Toledo last year and I know him very well from the recruiting trail, Brookhart said. He is an Ohio guy that is a good recruiter in the Cleveland area.

I really admire his work ethic. We are glad to have him on our staff instead of competing against him.

Offensive coordinator Shane Montgomery will become the running backs coach replacing Reno Ferri, who resigned last week.

Hedden, 37, has coached at UT since 2000 and has had coaching experience since 1993.
