The Zips batted an average of .300 with Matt Larocca being .750 from the plate as well as scoring two runs for the Zips. Derek Carmichael finished the game with three RBIs while Gerrad Rohan lead the team with three runs in their route to victory over Marshall.
On Wednesday, they faced the Flyers of Dayton (11-24) and lost a heartbreaker 2-1. Akron started the game with an early score from a Joey Havrilak RBI that sent Mamarella to home for the run. The score sat unchanged until the seventh inning when Dayton collected two runs of their own and snatched the lead and the victory from the visiting Zips.
Dayton out-hit UA 8-4 and had an upsetting batting average of .143 as a team. Lapiana recorded the loss as a pitcher and still remains winless in the season at 0-3. During the six innings where he pitched Lapiana had five hits and two strikeouts.
